DRIVE GUIDE FOR TRANSFERS FROM AIRPORT TO RESORT

ALMERIA AIRPORT TO 43 PARQUE RESIDENTIAL, MOJACAR PLAYA

Drive Guide (without photographs, routing is simpler than for Alicante)Mojacar Playa is around 80km from the airport and the roads you take are the N 344/AL-12, the E-15/A7- this is the motorway or 'dual carriageway with some motorway characteristics' as the Michelin map so elegantly describes it. You leave at Exit 520 and follow the A-370, the A-1203 to the petrol station roundabout, then ignore the sign for Mojacar (which takes you up the hill into the Old Town) following instead the sign for Carboneras (which takes you down the hill into the beach resort.

Here is the drive guide:

1 Exit Airport and get into left hand lane picking up signs for A-7/E-15 Almeria/Murcia (these are the two main cities north and south of you along the motorway. For a complete understanding of motorway signage conventions, refer to the relevant section of my notes for the transfer from Alicante Airport where it is set out in chapter and verse). You will shortly have to choose either Murcia routing or Almeria routing getting on the A-7/ E-15, the equivalent of heading either north or south on the M1 or M6. Choose Murcia every time.

2 Keep right following routing for Almeria/Murcia. At first roundabout (RAB), take first exit; at second RAB take first exit.

3 Take ramp to right onto N344

4 At third RAB take third exit following routing for Almeria/Murcia E-15/ A-7.

5 At next Roundabout TAKE FIRST EXIT ONTO E-15/A-7 NIJAR AND MURCIA AutoVia del Mediterraneo.You have now selected Murcia, and left Almeria behind. You are heading towards Mojacar and away from Almeria.

6 Leave motorway at Exit 520 signposted Mojacar Los Gallardos Turre

7 At RAB take second exit for Mojacar Turre N340a/A370.

8 Keep right on A370

9 After around 7km turn right onto A1203 signposted Mojacar Carboneras

10 At the next Roundabout IGNORE the first exit which states Al 6111 Mojacar. (This is the Avenida del Palacio that will take you up the hill to the Old Town) Instead go round the Roundabout and take the second exit (after the Petrol Station) signposted 'AL 6111 Carboneras'.

This takes you down the hill towards the sea. There is a shopping centre called Montemar on your LHS, then another large white building on the same side of the road with a white tower. This is Parque Comercial and the Parque Residential complex is situated right next to it on the other side.

If you need to collect your keys from Mojacar Estatesoffice or from the combination Drop Box by their front door, you need to take the first exit at the next Roundabout i.e turning right. ( Their address is Apdo de Correos 779 04638 Mojacar, Almeria, Spain) Drive down the Avenida del Mediterraneo for about 3km. The office (see picture) is on the last run of businesses on the BEACH SIDE of the road, before the promenade runs right round to the end of the resort where you can see the big white Hotel Indalo set back from the road.

Collect your keys, turn the car around and drive back to the first Roundabout at the Junction with Parque Comercial. Go straight on following sign 'ALP 118 Garrucha'. After 100m or so, turn first left into Calle Lucerne. You will have Parque Comercial on your LHS. Parque Residential is on the RHS. Number 43 is the first apartment on the right as you go up the hill, facing across to the plaza in front of the shopping centre. The entrance key is for the double door halfway up the road.

If you cannot get parked, drop your bags at the entrance and drive further up behind the complex, which is a one way system. It is only usually busy during business hours.
